Best AI video generators in 2026: an honest comparison

An honest guide to the best AI video generators in 2026: KreatorFlow, Veo, Kling, Runway, Pika, Luma, Hailuo and Higgsfield, with sourced and dated facts.

  • 9 tools
  • Sourced and dated
  • No ratings
  • Prices only where checked

Short answer

There is no single best AI video generator: it depends on the model you want, how long your clips are and how you like to pay. KreatorFlow suits creators who want ByteDance's Seedance models with reference-led video, consistent characters, camera templates and an API. Veo suits people in Google's tools, Kling suits multi-shot clips from one generation, and Sora is no longer available. Every fact about another tool comes from its own site, checked between 29 September 2026 and 6 October 2026.

How to choose an AI video generator

  1. 1

    Start from the model

Decide which model family you want (Seedance, Veo, Kling, Ray or another). Some tools run one model; others offer several.

  2. 2

    Match the length and resolution

Check the clip lengths and resolutions each tool documents, and whether 1080p or 4K needs a higher plan.

  3. 3

    Check how you pay

Compare free credits, plans, credit packs and API pricing at the price your account would pay, not a promotion.

  4. 4

    Run the same prompt

Use one prompt with the same length, aspect ratio and references on each tool, and compare the finished clips.

KreatorFlow: Seedance video with references, characters and an API

KreatorFlow is an independent AI video and image studio. KreatorFlow is an official partner of BytePlus, ByteDance's enterprise AI platform. Powered by ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 and Seedream models via BytePlus. Models: Seedance 2.5, Seedance 2.0, Seedance 2.0 Fast and Kitsune (motion transfer and object swap), plus Seedream for images.

Best for: creators and teams who want ByteDance's Seedance models with reference-led video, reusable characters and clear credit prices, and developers who want the same models through an API.

  • Seedance 2.0 clips of 4 to 15 seconds at 480p, 720p, 1080p and 4K, with up to 9 image, 3 video and 3 audio references in one render.
  • Seedance 2.5 for longer single takes, up to 30 seconds.
  • Kitsune: motion transfer and object swap on your own clips.
  • Consistent characters you call by @handle, and 14 one-click camera templates.
  • Credit costs shown before every render: a 5 s Seedance 2.0 clip is 15 credits at 720p and 25 at 1080p.
  • A developer API (prepaid tokens at $0.05, no subscription) and MCP servers for Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants.

Google Veo (Google)

Google Veo is made by Google. In the Gemini API, Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 second clips, with 1080p and 4K only at 8 seconds. In the Gemini app, video generation starts on the Google AI Plus plan; the free plan has none. (Checked on 30 September 2026 on Google's own pages.)

Best for: People already working in Google's tools: the Gemini app, Google Flow or the Gemini API.

  • Veo 3.1 is Google's current video model.
  • Every Veo video carries an invisible SynthID watermark.

Kling (Kuaishou)

Kling is made by Kuaishou. Kling's official docs describe Kling 3.0 as making 3 to 15 second clips at 720p, 1080p and 4K. (Checked on 6 October 2026 on Kuaishou's own pages.)

Best for: Several shots with transitions from one generation, and generated dialogue in Chinese, Japanese or Korean.

  • Native multi-shot: the model plans the cuts between shots within one generation.
  • Generated dialogue in Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish on Kling 3.0 and 3.0 Omni.

Runway (Runway)

Runway is made by Runway. Runway lists ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 among the models on its plans. (Checked on 29 September 2026 on Runway's own pages.)

Best for: Trying a broad creative suite first: Runway lists a free plan with 125 one-time credits.

  • A free plan with 125 one-time credits, then paid Standard, Pro and Max plans.

Pika (Pika)

Pika is made by Pika. The free plan includes no monthly credits (credit packs only), and a commercial licence starts on the Creator plan. (Checked on 30 September 2026 on Pika's own pages.)

Best for: Pika's own Pika 2.5 model next to models from other companies in one app.

  • Its own Pika 2.5 model, plus other companies' models including ByteDance's Seedance and Seedream.

Luma (Luma AI)

Luma is made by Luma AI. Luma lists paid individual plans (Plus, Pro, Ultra) plus Team and Enterprise, and no free plan. (Checked on 30 September 2026 on Luma AI's own pages.)

Best for: Luma's Ray models plus third-party models such as Seedance, Kling and Veo on one paid plan.

  • Its current video model is Ray3.2, released in June 2026; Dream Machine is now an older, deprecated name.

Hailuo (MiniMax)

Hailuo is made by MiniMax. Hailuo AI is MiniMax's video app. Its plans and prices could not be read from its site when we checked, so none are quoted. (Checked on 30 September 2026 on MiniMax's own pages.)

Best for: MiniMax's own models: MiniMax H3 makes clips of up to 15 seconds at up to 2K with native stereo sound.

  • MiniMax H3, released on 31 July 2026: clips of up to 15 seconds, up to 2K, native stereo sound.

Higgsfield (Higgsfield)

Higgsfield is made by Higgsfield. Higgsfield Genjutsu does motion transfer and object swap, with 30+ presets (Higgsfield's Genjutsu post, checked 7 October 2026). (Checked on 30 September 2026 on Higgsfield's own pages.)

Based on both companies' published prices (checked 30 September 2026), a 5 s Seedance 2.0 video at 1080p costs about $1.53 on KreatorFlow Pro ($49.00 a month, counting only its 800 guaranteed credits) against $2.21 on Higgsfield Plus, about 30% less.

Best for: Higgsfield's own effects and apps, such as Genjutsu motion transfer with 30+ presets.

  • Higgsfield lists Seedance 2.0 on its pricing page, on its Plus and Ultra plans.

Sora (OpenAI): discontinued

Sora is made by OpenAI. OpenAI announced the discontinuation on 24 March 2026. The Sora web and app experiences closed on 26 April 2026 and the Sora API closed on 24 September 2026. (Checked on 30 September 2026 on OpenAI's own pages.)

When KreatorFlow is not the right pick

We are not the best choice for everything. KreatorFlow runs ByteDance's Seedance and Seedream models only: if you need Google's Veo, Kling's own models, Luma's Ray or MiniMax's models, use those tools or a platform that offers them.

If your work lives inside Google's apps, Veo in the Gemini app or Flow will fit better. If several shots with planned cuts from one generation matter most, compare Kling, which documents that feature.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best AI video generator in 2026?

There is no single best one. KreatorFlow fits Seedance-first, reference-led work with characters, templates and an API; Veo fits Google's tools; Kling fits multi-shot clips; Luma and Pika offer their own models next to third-party ones. Run the same prompt on the two or three that fit your work.

Which tools run ByteDance's Seedance?

KreatorFlow runs Seedance through BytePlus as an official BytePlus partner. Runway, Pika, Luma and Higgsfield also list Seedance on their sites, according to their own pages when we checked.

Is Sora still available?

No. OpenAI discontinued Sora: the web and app experiences closed on 26 April 2026 and the API on 24 September 2026.

How do you keep this fair?

Every fact about another tool is taken from that company's own pages, dated and linked under the table. We quote a competitor's price only where we have checked it and KreatorFlow is cheaper, and we publish no ratings or rankings.

Try it in the studio

New accounts get 75 starter credits for images and video. Free accounts can make video on Seedance 2 Fast and Seedance 2.0 Mini at 480p, queued and rate limited. A plan adds every video model, 720p and above, and no queue. The cost is shown before every generation.
