Seedance 2.5 guide: what's new, how to prompt it, what it costs

Seedance 2.5 on KreatorFlow: what changed from Seedance 2.0, clips of up to 30 seconds, references, audio, how to prompt it and what each clip costs in credits.

  • Up to 30 s
  • 480p to 4K
  • 9 images · 3 clips · 3 audio
  • Generated audio

Short answer

Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance's newest video model on KreatorFlow. The headline change is length: one shot of 4 to 30 seconds, where Seedance 2.0 stops at 15. Resolutions (480p, 720p, 1080p and 4K), aspect ratios and references (up to 9 images, 3 clips and 3 audio files) stay the same. A 5-second 720p clip costs 20 credits (15 on Seedance 2.0), so pick it when a shot has to run longer than 15 seconds.

How to make a Seedance 2.5 clip

  1. 1

Pick Seedance 2.5 in the studio

Open the video studio and choose Seedance 2.5. Start from text, or add images, clips, audio or a saved character as references.

  2. 2

    Write the whole shot

A long take needs a plan: who is in it, where, what happens at the start, the middle and the end, and how the camera moves between those beats.

  3. 3

    Name every reference

Say what to take from each one: "the face from image 1", "the camera move from the clip", "the rhythm of the audio". For a saved character, its @handle is enough.

  4. 4

    Set length, resolution and format

    Lengths: 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 seconds. Formats: 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16 and 21:9. The credit cost updates with every setting, and nothing is charged until you confirm.

  5. 5

    Test short, then go long

Tune the prompt on a short clip, then ask for the final length. For very cheap drafts, Seedance 2.0 Fast costs 12 credits for 5 seconds at 720p.

Example prompts for long takes

Each one describes a single continuous shot with a beginning, a middle and an end. Copy one and swap in your own subject and place.

  • A walk through a place

One continuous shot at dusk: the camera starts in an empty cobbled alley, pushes slowly towards a lit cafe, drifts in through the door and settles on a medium shot of a barista pouring a heart into a latte. Warm light, calm mood, the clink of cups and quiet chatter.

  • Product demo

Black headphones on a concrete table. The camera slowly orbits them, moves in close on the cushion texture, a hand picks them up and puts them on, and the shot ends on a smiling close-up. Soft studio light, grey background, no on-screen text.

  • Character in a scene

@mara walks through a night market full of paper lanterns, stops at a stall, tastes something, laughs and keeps walking towards the camera. Handheld camera following at shoulder height, warm colours, market sounds.

What's new compared with Seedance 2.0

The main difference is length. Seedance 2.0 makes up to 15 seconds per generation; Seedance 2.5 adds 20, 25 and 30 seconds, up to 30 in one shot. An idea you used to split into several clips and cut together (a walk through a location, a product demo, a slow reveal) can now be one continuous take with the same light and the same subject from start to finish.

Everything else stays the same, which is a good thing: the same resolutions, aspect ratios and reference limits as Seedance 2.0, so your prompts and references work on both. When a generation uses a reference clip, the result follows the aspect ratio of that clip.

Seedance 2.5 also powers Kitsune, KreatorFlow's motion transfer and object swap studio. KreatorFlow is an official partner of BytePlus, ByteDance's enterprise AI platform.

How to prompt Seedance 2.5

Treat a long take as a short sequence, not a single sentence. The structure that works best: subject and place, then the action in three beats (start, middle, end), then the camera path, the light and the style, and finally the sound if audio is on.

One subject and one continuous camera path keep long clips coherent. Several unrelated actions in one prompt tend to blur together.

  • Lead with what is in frame: "a barista in a small cafe" before the style words.
  • Order the action with clear transitions: "starts", "then", "ends on".
  • Describe the camera the way an operator would: slow push-in, orbit, crane down, handheld.
  • Call a saved character by its @handle so the same face shows up across clips.
  • With audio on, say what should be heard: soft rain, distant traffic, no music.
  • Keep on-screen text and small logos out of the prompt; add the logo as a reference image instead.

What it costs, and when to pick 2.5 or 2.0

Seedance 2.5 costs more per second than Seedance 2.0: 20 against 15 credits for 5 seconds at 720p, and 50 against 25 at 1080p. Generated audio does not change the price. With a reference clip you pay for the clip's seconds plus the output: 5 seconds with one 5-second clip costs 27 credits at 720p.

Video starts on the Creator plan, which renders up to 720p; Pro, Max and Business also render 1080p and 4K. The studio shows the exact cost before you generate, and failed jobs are refunded automatically.

  • Pick Seedance 2.5 when a shot has to run longer than 15 seconds in one take, or when you want the newest model for the final render.
  • Pick Seedance 2.0 for clips no longer than 15 seconds: it costs less and takes the same references.
  • Pick Seedance 2.0 Fast to test prompts and framing before the final render.
