How to write a TikTok hook with the generator

  1. 1

    Describe the video

One line on what it's about: the product, the tip, the story. Add who it's for if you know.

  2. 2

    Pick platform and tone

TikTok, Reels or Shorts, then bold, funny, educational, relatable or premium.

  3. 3

    Get 10 hooks

Each one is labelled with its type and comes with the spoken line and the on-screen text.

  4. 4

    Test three to five

Film the same video with different openings and keep the one people watch past three seconds.

What makes a good TikTok hook?

Viewers decide fast, often within the first few seconds, whether to keep watching. A good hook lands the premise in the first three seconds and makes a promise the rest of the video keeps. It opens on movement, a face or the result, never on a logo, a greeting or "hey guys".

Stack it for sound off and sound on: a spoken line of eight words or fewer, on-screen text of three to seven words, and something moving in the first frame. Be specific. "This café's pumpkin latte" beats "this drink" every time.

9 types of TikTok hooks, with examples

Result first

Show the after, then explain how. Example: "This is the kitchen I redid in one weekend. Here's every step."

Mid-action

Open in the middle of something already happening. Example: "I'm halfway through cutting my own fringe and I already regret it."

Relatable POV

Put the viewer inside a moment they know. Example: "POV: you said 'one episode' at 11pm."

Curiosity gap

Name the outcome, hide the cause. Example: "The one phone setting I wish I had changed years ago."

Contrarian

Say the opposite of what everyone repeats, then prove it. Example: "Stop rinsing your pasta. Here's why."

Warning

Tell them what to stop doing. Example: "Don't buy running shoes until you've done this."

Question

Ask the question they already have. Example: "Why does every homemade pizza come out soggy?"

Pattern break

Something visibly odd that makes the thumb stop. Example: "I put my laptop in the freezer for science."

List promise

Promise a short, specific list. Example: "3 apps I'd install on day one of a new phone."

How to test hooks

  • Pick three to five hooks of different types for the same video
  • Keep everything after the first three seconds identical
  • Post them a few days apart, or test them as ad variations
  • Compare how many people watched past three seconds, not just total views
  • Keep the winning type and write your next batch around it

From script to finished video with Kiryu

The generator is a free slice of Kiryu, KreatorFlow's AI video agent. In Kiryu the same craft goes further: it plans a week of posts, writes the hooks and scripts, makes the clips with Seedance, adds the voiceover, music and captions, crops to 9:16, then reviews the finished video and tells you where people will stop watching.

Press Make it with Kiryu under your result and it opens in Kiryu, ready to send. Nothing is made or charged until you confirm.

Made for organic TikTok, Reels and Shorts

Kiryu is built for the videos people find in their feed, not on a billboard. Everything it writes and makes starts from how short-form is actually watched: a thumb ready to scroll, sound often off, and about three seconds to earn the rest.

  • Hooks written for the first three seconds, with the on-screen text and first shot
  • Formats that work on short-form right now: skits, before and after, storytime, UGC, series
  • Vertical 9:16, captions that sit clear of the app's buttons, and the right length per platform
  • Posting plans for a week or a month, with a reason for every post
  • Reviews that check where people stop watching and whether your call to action lands

TikTok hook generator questions

What is a TikTok hook?

The first one to three seconds of a video: what the viewer sees, reads and hears before deciding whether to keep watching. A strong hook makes a clear promise fast, without a greeting, a logo or slow setup.

Is the TikTok hook generator free?

Yes. You can generate hooks without an account, up to 15 times a day. A free KreatorFlow account gives you more.

What types of hooks does it write?

Up to 10 per request, mixed across 9 types: result first, mid-action, relatable pov, curiosity gap, contrarian, warning, question, pattern break, list promise. Mixing types is the quickest way to find out what your audience responds to.

Will these hooks make my video go viral?

No tool can promise that. A good hook raises the odds that people keep watching, but the video still has to pay off the promise. Test several hooks on the same video and keep what works.

Does it work for Reels and YouTube Shorts?

Yes. Short-form hooks follow the same rules on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts; pick the platform and the wording adjusts.

Can I use the hooks for ads?

Yes. For paid ads, also check the platform's ad rules and make sure every claim is true. Kiryu can write ad angles and test variations for you.

Does it write in other languages?

Yes. Describe your video in the language you post in and the hooks come back in that language.

Who makes the video when I send it to Kiryu?

Kiryu, KreatorFlow's AI video agent, makes the clips with ByteDance's Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 and images with Seedream. KreatorFlow is an official partner of BytePlus, a ByteDance company. Making video uses credits at the normal studio price, shown before anything runs.
