Short answer

An AI cat drama is a short, over-the-top soap opera starring cats in tiny clothes: a cheating husband cat, a struggling single-mum cat, a kitten who gets revenge. To make one, save a picture of each cat as a Character (your own pets work), open the video studio on Seedance 2.5, call each cat by its @handle, write the scene in beats with a line or two of dialogue, turn generated audio on and generate 15 seconds in 9:16. One scene is 70 credits for 15 seconds at 720p.

How to make a cat drama episode

  1. 1

    Cast your cats

Use photos of your own cats, or make original cats in the image studio. Save each one as a Character so it gets an @handle, for example @orange and @grey. Give each a costume that stays the same: an office shirt, an apron, a school bag.

  2. 2

    Pick a big, simple plot

The trend uses soap-opera plots everyone understands without words: betrayal, a sick kitten, a rich cat who looks down on a poor one, revenge, a reunion. One twist per scene.

  3. 3

Open the video studio on Seedance 2.5

Set 9:16 and turn generated audio on. Write the place, the cats by @handle, then 3 or 4 beats with time ranges. Big emotions read best: wide eyes, trembling whiskers, tears, a slammed door.

  4. 4

    Generate

Test the idea first: 24 credits for 5 seconds at 720p. The finished clip is 70 credits for 15 seconds at 720p. The exact price is on the Generate button before anything is charged, and failed generations give the credits back. Generated audio does not change the price.

  5. 5

    Build the series

Join scenes in the free video editor, add subtitles and a dramatic title card, and end on a cliffhanger. One scene can run up to 30 seconds.

Cat drama prompts

Replace the @handles with your own saved cats. Turn generated audio on.

  • Caught coming home late

Vertical cinematic micro-drama, realistic look. A small rainy-night apartment kitchen. @orange, a fluffy orange cat standing upright in a tiny office shirt and loose tie, comes home soaked, carrying a briefcase. 0-4s: he opens the door and freezes. 4-8s: @grey, a grey tabby cat in a pink apron, stands at the table next to an empty fish bowl, arms crossed. 8-12s: her line (cold): {Where were you?} 12-15s: slow push-in on @orange's wide, guilty eyes as thunder flashes outside. Audio: rain, thunder, her line, a tense string sting. No subtitles.

  • The kitten's revenge (no dialogue)

Vertical cinematic micro-drama, realistic look. A sunny school corridor. A small white kitten in a school uniform is pushed over by a big black cat in a leather jacket; her books scatter. Slow motion as she looks up with tears in her eyes. Cut to the same kitten, older, stepping out of a black car in a sharp suit and sunglasses, walking toward the camera as the big cat looks on in shock. Dramatic orchestral music, no dialogue, no subtitles.

  • Your cat's comeback (your pet's @handle)

Vertical cinematic micro-drama, realistic look. A busy street market at dusk. @mycat, wearing a tiny worn scarf, sells fish from a small cart alone in the rain while other cats walk past ignoring her. A rich cat in a fur coat stops and laughs at her. She looks down, then lifts her chin with a determined look as the camera pushes in. Audio: rain, market noise, a soft sad piano that turns hopeful. No subtitles.

Where the AI cat drama trend comes from

AI animal micro-dramas took off on Douyin in China and spread to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube through 2026. A March 2026 report describes viewers abroad following the plots with subtitles, and a July 2026 report covers a kitten series that gained 178,000 followers from just 14 videos. Episodes are short, emotional and built around cliffhangers.

Cats are popular partly because AI handles animal movement well and nobody has to show a real face. Your own pet can be the star, which makes it easy to build a following around one character.

Tips for a better episode

Keep costumes and colours the same in every episode, and always use the same @handle. Say "standing upright" if you want human-like posture, and describe the emotion on the face in each beat.

No dialogue is fine: music and expressions carry these stories, and subtitles let you post the same clip in any language.

If you want a trending song, add it inside TikTok, Instagram or YouTube when you post: the app licenses it. Don't put copyrighted music into the clip yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a cat drama for free?

New accounts get 25 starter credits for images and video. Free video covers Seedance 2 Fast and Seedance 2.0 Mini at 720p only, queued and rate limited. Other video models and 1080p and above need a plan. Seedance 2.5 is on the paid plans, starting with Creator.

Can I use my own cat?

Yes. Save a sharp photo of your cat as a Character or Asset and use its @handle in the prompt. The costume and scene come from your prompt.

How do I keep the same cats in every episode?

Use the same saved @handles, the same costume words and the same style words in every prompt.

Do the cats need to talk?

No. Many viral episodes use only music and expressions with subtitles. If you want speech, turn generated audio on and write each line in braces with who says it.
